Apprenticeship as an Industrial Electronics Technician

During the 3.5-year apprenticeship as an Industrial Electronics Technician at Nordgetreide, you will acquire both the practical skills and theoretical knowledge required to install, maintain, and repair the electrical infrastructure of an industrial company. This includes, among other things, measuring and testing electrical and non-electrical values using the appropriate technologies.
At professional school, you will gain theoretical knowledge in various learning modules that form the foundation of your daily work. The focus is on analysing, installing, and programming electronic systems, devices, and components.

What does an Industrial Electronics Technician do?
Industrial Electronics Technicians handle all electrical engineering tasks that arise at Nordgetreide. Our technicians manufacture mechanical parts and connections, install and route cables and wiring that form the foundation of our electrical infrastructure. They are also responsible for installing and maintaining electrical components and systems in power supply, industrial engineering, and automation technology. The complete assembly, wiring, and installation of all systems in electrical power engineering round off their diverse range of tasks.

Apprenticeship as an Industrial Management Assistant

During the 3-year apprenticeship as an Industrial Management Assistant at Nordgetreide, you will gain comprehensive insight into all commercial and business management processes of an internationally operating food manufacturer. Over the course of your training, you will work for several months in various departments and support day-to-day business operations in all commercial matters.
This practical training alternates with theoretical lessons at the Hanse School for Business and Administration in Lübeck (1st year: 2 days/week; 2nd and 3rd year: 1 day/week). At school, you will acquire the theoretical knowledge that forms the foundation of your daily work and can be applied directly in practice. The focus of the school-based training includes human resources, accounting, and production planning among other things. Since industrial management assistants can work internationally, the curriculum also includes general subjects such as economics, politics, and English.

What does an Industrial Management Assistant do?
Industrial Management Assistants coordinate and manage all business processes at Nordgetreide. Their responsibilities include preparing and reviewing quotations, negotiating with suppliers and customers, and drafting contracts. These tasks require a high level of precision and independence.
During your apprenticeship, you will learn to handle these responsibilities on your own and take ownership of your tasks in the respective departments. For example you will prepare orders and purchase agreements in the Purchasing department, while you will send product samples to existing and potential customers and take care of related communication and organisation in Sales. You will also gain insights into departments such as Human Resources, Logistics, Customer Service, Accounting and Controlling.

During the 2-year apprenticeship as a Machine and Plant Operator at Nordgetreide, you will get to know all production processes involved in manufacturing our cereals, milled products, and crunchy muesli. You will learn how to operate the required machines and systems and monitor the entire production process – from the delivery of raw materials to the packaged end product. This apprenticeship takes place at the very heart of food production and is ideal for those who are interested in working responsibly with large-scale machinery.
What does a Machine and Plant Operator do?
As a Machine and Plant Operator at Nordgetreide, you ensure that all machines and systems are correctly set up for production and ready for operation. Once production starts, you continuously monitor the processes, check the machinery, and take product samples to ensure that our high-quality standards for food production are consistently met. In addition, you are responsible for the proper storage of raw materials and finished products.

Apprenticeship as a Process Engineer for the Milling and Grain Industry (Miller)

During the 3-year apprenticeship as a Process Engineer for the Milling and Grain Industry at Nordgetreide, you will learn how to produce mill products using modern technologies and equipment. This field of work is one of the key pillars of our company and makes an important contribution to Europe’s food supply. During the apprenticeship, you will operate in our own maize and hulling mill and get to know the milling production.
Theoretical lessons at the Miller School in Wittingen (Lower Saxony) complements your practical experience at Nordgetreide. The school lessons focus on modern processing methods and laboratory techniques. In addition, material science covering different types of grain and mechanical engineering form a large part of the practically oriented curriculum. For the duration of the block courses, Nordgetreide provides accommodation for its apprentices at the school location in Wittingen.

The role also involves carrying out minor repairs and maintenance work on the systems.
